Hungary is located in Central Europe, sharing borders with 7 other countries to the north with the Slovak Republic, to the northeast with Ukraine, to the east with Romania, to the south with Croatia and Serbia and to the west with Austria and Slovenia.
The small country of Hungary enclosed by a few Slavonic counties is extraordinary for its language, culture and ability to survive. Hungarians speak a language and form a culture unlike any other in the region: this distinctiveness has been both a source of pride and an obstacle for more than 1100 years since the Hungarians settled in the land. The country and the Hungarian have remained true to their heritage despite all the conquerors all through its history: Mongol attack in the 13th century, Turkish occupation in the 16th and 17th centuries, Austrian control in the 18th and early 19th centuries, and communist domination in the mid 20th century. In the 21st century the country has joined the European Union.
The natural, cultural and historical places to be visited in Hungary are reflected in its high concentration of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Hungary now has now nine sites listed as World heritage sites: Budapest along with the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy avenue, Busó festivities at Mohács, Tokaj Wine Region Historic Cultural Landscape, FertÅ‘ / Neusiedlersee Cultural Landscape, Early Christian Necropolis of Pécs , Hortobágy National Park – the Puszta, Millenary Benedictine Abbey of Pannonhalma and its Natural Environment, Caves of Aggtelek Karst and Slovak Karst, Old Village of HollókÅ‘ and its surroundings. Hungary is also home to historic urban centers and evocative landscapes, not to mention quality wines like the world celebrated Hungarian wine, the Tokaji aszú, thermal springs, and a thriving arts and music.
Budapest, the capital, is a fantastic city parted in two by the Danube and it is one of the world’s most beautiful cities, the Pearl of the Danube. Buda is older, hillier, and more graceful, while Pest, the flat part of the city is the commercial center enclosed by gorgeous art nouveau, baroque, neoclassical, Eclectic buildings pleasing anyone’s appetite.
Outside of the capital the plains, rolling hills and rivers, lakes and vineyards hold much to present the visitor. The Baroque town and splendid wines of Eger, historical riverside villages along the Danube Bend, fortresses, castles and ruins, the resort-lined Lake Balaton and the thermal spas and volcanically heated lake in Hévíz are just some of the country’s plenty of highlights expecting you to discover.

Lake Balaton often credited to as The Hungarian Sea a 77 km long lake with silky green-yellow water in the middle of Transdanubia. Lake Balaton is one of Hungary’s most beloved jewel and most frequented vacation spots. It is also the biggest lake in Central Europe. One of the most popular places of the lake is Siofok which offers some of the best Hungary hotels of the country.
The Puszta a unique Hungarian scene is a prairie topped by big skies, but Hungary’s outdoor beauty doesn’t stop here. There are 11 national parks, such as Hortobágy and hundreds of protected areas to explore, along with Lake Balaton, Europe’s largest body of fresh water, a multitude of rivers and acres of vineyards and orchards. And at the end of a hard day after visiting a lot of sights, there’s no other place to relax than in one of Hungary’s 150 thermal spas, some of which date back to Roman days.
Besides cultural experiences there are a numerous big sport events held in the country such as the The Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix taking place in Hungaroring, close to Budapest.
This country is the birthplace of world-famous inventors, scientists such as Albert Szent-Györgyi who discovered vitamin C, Ede Teller the father of the hydrogen bomb, explorers, plenty of exceptional performers and composers, including Franz Liszt, Bela Bartok and Zoltan Kodaly and sports stars. A lot of famous Americans have Hungarian ancestors such as Mariska Hargitay, Drew Barrymore, Kate Hudson, Paul Newman to mention some of them.
If all the things that were mentioned above are not enough to invite you to visit the country just simply come for the hospitality of the Hungarian people and the quality of the Hungary accommodation.
