If you’re arranging to go scuba diving in Florida the most noteable thing you will appreciate is that you are ruined for choice.
Experienced people will appreciate that one of the top known spots in the world for scuba diving is the “Florida Keys”. Here you will locate “The Scuba Diving Capital of the World”, Key Largo.Key Largo received its accolade because of the huge choice of dive sites and the different types of dive sites. When you call Key Largo you will locate a fantastic choice of coral reefs, ledges, shipwrecks and caves.
The coral reefs vary in size and maturity and there are reefs to be explored by divers whatever their skill level. Some of the shipwrecks are nothing short of dramatic. This locale boasts the largest ship that was sunk to create an artificial reef and the USS Spiegel Grove will take you days to explore.
As you move through “The Keys” you can also locate good scuba diving in places such as Islamorada and Marathon but in reality the next area you would want to travel to would be Key West.
Key West provides a bigger all round experience. This is one place that is just as exciting out of the water as it is in the water. If you are looking for excitement in the evening as well as the day then look no further than this mature colonial town. This town changes at night. The area is well known for its striking sunsets but once the sun goes down the streets leap into life with live entertainment.
Most scuba divers know of “The Keys” which is why it has long been a fashionable region to call for scuba diving but many don’t appreciate that Florida has additional fantastic places to call and dive.
Travel up the Atlantic coastline from “The Keys” and you arrive at the exciting city of Miami. Miami has some terrific locations to call such as South beach and when you see the branded shops and several coffee bars set amongst the Art Deco and striking buildings you recognize you are in for a treat. What many don’t appreciate is that Maimi also has some extraordinary and rare scuba sites.
Where else would you discover an underwater bar or some Army Tanks! Part of a publicity stunt the Jose Cuervo Bar can be found not far from the beach as is a local charm for snorkelers, divers and Miami marine life.
As an alternative to “The Keys” you will locate that Miami has so much to offer with interesting and distinctive dive sites and of course a cultural city that has so many places of interest to call that you will be busy both day and night .
Continuing north up the eastern Atlantic shoreline and you soon arrive at another terrific region to go scuba diving in Florida, Fort Lauderdale. This gorgeous region is recognized as “The Venice of America” and it is easy to see why it has come by this description when you visit the waterways and see all the boats of various shapes and sizes.
As with many of the lesser acknowledged diving places Fort Lauderdale has some interesting dive sites and loads of wrecks to be looked at by both experienced and novice divers.
Continue travelling up this eastern coast and yet another place for quality diving in Florida is West Palm Beach. Around West Palm shore you will locate an extensive artificial reef program that continues to expand over the years bringing new and exciting dive sites.
For example. Governor’s River Walk Reef was developed using not one, but three, individual ships to create an extensive and exciting dive site for experienced divers to explore. West Palm is proud of its artificial reef program and like many other areas around Florida it continues to invest and enlarge the number of scuba diving sites available off the shoreline of Florida.
